Books, Brushes and Blooms:

A Spring Art and Literary Festival

Saturday, May 7th noon-4pm Millers Park

Books, Brush and Blooms is the ECA's annual celebration of the Arts. This event welcomes and celebrates the natural art and beauty of the Pocono Mountain's awakening to spring after a long winter's rest by paying tribute to local artists, authors and artisans. This non-juried, yet selective, venue offers a diverse showing in the arts; from sculptors to glass blowers, painters, to poets, farmers to landscape architects, writers, singers, songwriters, and those that fill the spaces between with creativity and beauty. This event also welcome interactive exhibits in the arts as well as live performances that will engage the senses and awaken the imagination.

 

Books, Brushes and Blooms 2011 Musicians:

Regina Sayles

Guitarist and singer, the ECA was very excited to bring Regina to the Books, Brushes and Blooms stage this year. Playing shows through-out the tri-state areas, she's built quite a following and after you hear her play we are sure you will be a fan!

Eric Hanston

Singer, musician and song-writer, bringing sound, soul and lyrical originality to the stage. Eric will be joined by the accompaniment of friends for this performance.

Blue Planet/ Planeta Azul

Bringing original Pan American fusion to Eastburg; a combination of the music of North, Central, and South America, from Montreal to Argentina!

Special Features

In an effort to expose more young people to the arts, the ECA is hosting a number of kid-centered activities, including:

An old fashioned Biggest Bubble Gum Bubble Blowing Contest from noon-12:30pm.

Sponsored by Sugar Sugar: A Unique Candy Store:

Contestants aged 12 and under will flex their lung power and display their bubble-blowing skills. The largest bubble will be awarded sweetly by our judges!

A coloring competition for Children

The ECA will be distributing a picture through-out East Stroudsburg Elementary and middle schools for students to take home and color. The students must bring their colored pictures with them to the Books, Brushes and Blooms Event and presented to the ECA table by noon for judging. Winners will be announced in various categories between musical acts through-out the day and awarded prizes. Winners must be present so come out and enjoy the day with your family!

The Bookmobile

The Monroe County Public Library's Bookmobile will be participating through the event with books and reading activities for children available on board.

 

Interactive Actitivies for all ages:

Additionally, poets and authors will be presenting chapter readings and poetry recitations on the main Stage through-out the day.

 

At 2011's Books, Brushes and Blooms participants may:

Enjoy live music, art, local authors, chapter readings, educational exhibits, a famer's market sampling, flowers, gardening exhibits, children's activities, tours of East Stroudsburg's Historic railroad switching tower and more in Millers Park, Eastburg!
